A sincere month dedicated to the devotion of the Lord. This month is dedicated to the worship of Lord Vishnu and you can see Thirupathi and other famous temples like Thiruvallikeni very much overcrowded to the brim. This month also witnesses a large number of holy festivals like Dussehra (aka) Navarathri, Vijayadasami (standing testimony for Aksharabhyasam -- beginning of education)

We here humbly present the lyrics of Kurai Ondrum Illai by Shri Chakravarthi Rajagopalachari (Late) in the sweet nightingale voice of Smt. M. S. Subbulakshmi (Late).

Sri Hayagriva Jayanthi

Sri Hayagriva Jayanthi

I came to understand from SriRangaSri Yahoogroups, that today is also observed as Sri Hayagreeva Jayanthi. The other significant coincidence for today being 'Teachers Day'. Let us greet and wish our teachers best wishes and pray to the Lord Almighty for thier prosperity and good health for creating more greater personalities.

With Sri Hayagriva Jayanthi in place, let us also concenterate on reciting Sri Hayagriva stotras and possibly from Hayagreevan Kadhamba mala besides offering milk and naivedyams to Sri Hayagreevan.

Let this be a purely educational day paving the way for a bright wisdom path of the future.

Sri Jayanthi on September 15

Sri Jayanthi on September 15

The Sri Vaishnavite version of Sri Krishna Jayanthi (aka) Gokulashtami, which is observed as Sri Jayanthi is celebrated on September 15, 2006. Lord Krishna is a favorite deity for everyone. He is adored and liked by everyone for His childhood pranks and mischiefs. He is also regarded greatly for His divine love and Rasa Leela with Radha (aka) Radhika and other Gopikas.

Sri Jayanthi is commomerated as His birth day. The houses are decorated with greatest care. Small feet are drawn with rice flour from the entrance till the Pooja room. This is to indicate and welcome Lord Krishna into the house. Special dishes are also cooked. The special items normally are:

  1. Murukku
  2. Seedai
  3. Vella Seedai (Sweet Seedai)
  4. Thenkozhal
  5. Payasam (Sweet Nectar)
  6. Nagappazham

During the evening it is customary to ask with the nieghbors 'Krishnan unga veetukku vandhacha?' (Has Lord Krishna come to your house?)

Lord Krishna was also best known for His Bhagavat Gita. Let us pray Lord Krishna for His divine blessings for prosperity and success throughout.
