The organizers of Cheyyar Periakoil have shared the following information to be circulated amongst interested readers and devotees.

The scheduled Balalayam function is scheduled at Cheyyar Periyakoil tomorrow 24th June 2009 between 1730 hours to 1930 hours (in the evening) and on 25th June 2009 between 0430 hours to 0600 AM (in the morning). There would be eminent scholars chanting Veda Parayanam and Prabhandha Parayanam on both these days. Yaga sala construction is expected to get completed today. Thatched roof (Koorai) work is expected to get completed today.

On behalf of PERIAKOIL NITHYA KALYANA VARADAR TRUST and the Periakoil villagers, I invite you with your family and friends to attend the YAGAM and have the blessings of the almighty. Your valuable contribution towards the Holistic event would be of immense help in rebuilding the 1600 year old temple. Pls donate liberally.

A Beautiful Kumbakonam Oppiliappan Calendar 2009

I came to learn about a beautiful calendar on Kumbakonam Oppiliappan temple for the year 2009 from Srirangasri Yahoogroups posting over here. Since it had two parts of the calendar, I just thought I would try merging the PDFs into a single one. With the help of MergePDF, I chose to combine them into a single PDF. In this process, I found a few quirks in MergePDF where the upload was getting aborted because the server was unable to take continuous two five mega bytes file though there was a mention about the size being permitted. When I wrote to the webmaster, they corrected the anomalies and wrote me back too.

I sent the calendar as a single file to Sadagopan Mama who posted the message in SrirangaSri and he immediately announced the single file version to everyone. When I suggested him about sharing it in Scribd, he was glad too. With his blessings, I have shared the same in Scribd and you can get the calendar from Scribd here.

I got the following sloka from some one in Satyanarayana Perumal Yahoogroups. It is advised for the students to recite this sloka every friday before 0630 hours during the Viswaroopa Seva of Sri Sathyanarayana Perumal, West Mambalam in His Mahalakshmi Sannidhi. The sloka needs to be recited twelve times, a quick archana to be performed and then the devotee should come around (circumambulate) the shrine.

I came to know from the mailer of Sriayyappathi Rajagopalan about the Thirupparivettai Mahotsavam that is being planned to be organized at Pon Vilaintha Kalathur near Chengalput on 8th February 2009 (Thai 26th). A quick update of the program follows:

1200 Noon: Alangarath Thirumanjanam

The deity procession would be towards evening amidst musical performance. There would also be a deity procession from the temple to the nearest hillock belonging to the temple (located about 3 KMs from the temple).
