A Dinamalar Writeup on 'Nava Ahobilam'

A Dinamalar Writeup on 'Nava Ahobilam'

I was reading through my email box archived-but-to-be-read-later folder and found one nice article about Nava Ahobilam, which is a city spanning one hundred acres that is being constructed by Sri Ahobila Mutt near Sri Ahobilam. The objective of the city is to cater to all required facilities of the pilgrims alongside with the fact that the current environment and ecosystem should be preserved and safeguarded from pollutions of any kind.

Padavedu Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple

Padavedu Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple

I would express my sincere heartfelt thanks to skyaasoori for having sent me an email with the details of Sri Lakshmi Narasimha swami temple in Padavedu near Vellore. I just thought of sharing the same in my weblog for the benefit of other pilgrims and devotees.

You can reach padavedu temple easily from Polur towards Vellore route. When you reach a village called Santhavaasal, take the left turn and after driving for six kilometers you should be arriving at this temple. There is also a Lakshmi Narasimha temple in Polur hillock, which we have discussed sometime back over here. When you have gone there and are coming here, the enchanting greenery all along and all around would refresh you and eliminate any tiredness besides turning you dynamically vibrant and fresh. The vigraham is swayambu vigraham which came out of the hillock.

The Lordess is seated on the lap of the Lord on the left hand side. The temple is headed by the trust chaired by Sri. Venu Srinivasan of TVS group. The priest by name Sri Mukundan Bhattacharyar is managing the poojas in the temple. The temple is open from 0730 to 1100 in the morning and 1630 to 1830 in the evening. The temple is also sung by 45th HH of Srimad Azhagiya Singer. There is also a Sri Venugopalan temple in the hillock however the approach to that temple is little difficult. That temple is open on Saturdays and specifically saturdays in the month of Purattasi. Sri Maaya Devi who came as sister of Lord Krishna in His incarnation is giving darshan in this village as Sri Renuka Devi in a separate temple.

Please see the photographs of the temple in the embedded PDF below.

Sri Prasanna Narasimha Devasthanam Temple in Ponnimedu (near Red Hills)

Sri Prasanna Narasimha Devasthanam Temple in Ponnimedu (near Red Hills)

Whilst casually reading this month edition of Sapthagiri, I came across an article about Sri Prasanna Narasimha Devasthanam temple The idol for this temple was found in Ugra format whilst the board was constructing another temple. To make Him cool down, they have constructed the sanctum sanctorum for Him on a 60 feet deep well. Using the contact number, I have collected the following info for the benefit of other devotees who might be interested to visit the temple:

Vinobhaji Street,
Ponniamman Medu,
Chennai -- 110

(If you are coming through Tambaram - Guindy - CMBT route, try getting bus number 170 and alight at Kanakachatiram Bus Stop. Locate the Shell Petrol Bunk and then the temple is accessible at an easily walkable distance from there).

The temple devasthanam contact person is Shri. Premkumar and is accessible on the number: (91)988-426-9097. He also advised me the following current observations in the temple till January 12:

  • The 'Thailakappu' is held off only today for New Year and would be put on from tomorrow till January 12.
  • Due to Dhanur maadha Poojas, the temple timings are 5.30 AM to 10.AM and 5.30 PM to 8 PM. The timings during the normal days are 6 AM to 10.30 AM and 6 PM to 8.30 PM. Precisely, a thirty minutes advancement of the normal schedule applies for the sake of Dhanur maadha Poojas.
