My Weekend Service to the Lord

I sincerely believe that this weekend, I have been trying to restrict to activities towards serving His devotees in getting with a good collection of song as well to enable them to view the lyrics.

Whenever, I get some time, I normally listen to 'Sriman Narayana' (Annamacharya) song, which I have downloaded from http://www.balaji.net/ Thanks to the website organizers, that they have given this one and a lot of other audio MP3 as free in public domain at the following URL: http://www.balaji.net/mp3/

We all know, MP3 hosting is really expensive and heavy on the server. We should really thank them for the pains they have taken to bear those and supporting us with those melodious names of the Lord. You can actually get the lyrics of this keerthana here. If you closely recall, that we have actually discussed this sometime back over here too.

Today being weekend and sitting in a remote location (Dallas, TX), I just thought I would try creating a Powerpoint with the lyrics and them embed the music to create a video. My objective were the following:

1. Contribute and support the website http://www.balaji.net/ by adding lyrics to the MP3 which another devotee has helped with.
2. The weekend should be towards the service to the Lotus feet of the Lord.
3. People should be able to listen to the music and also by seeing the lyrics, they can also participate in chanting the names of Him. To chant His names gives so much blessings from Him. It is said by elders that the Lord's name has more kindness and potential to save and bless us in all occasions in relation to the Lord Himself.

After creating a simple video in Windows Movie Maker, I have uploaded the same to Silverlight Streaming of Microsoft Windows Live. Check it out here:

If you wish, you can download the WMV from here for your offline listening. But the original author has taken so much efforts to retain it free for the benefit of His devotees and hence do not try to derive commercial benefits from it. We should join him in his efforts to serve the Lord and His devotees.

I learnt from Sri Parthasarathy Swamy about Thirumanjanam and Thirukkalyanam at Sri Viswaroopa Lakshmi Narasimhan Sannidhi at Kattawalkam, Walajabad district.

The details of the programme are hereunder:

I came to know from Sri. Parthasarathy regarding the organizing of Laksharchanai for Sri Lakshmi Narasimhan at Kattawalkam Sri Viswaroopa Lakshmi Narasimhan temple.

Dates: 30th September, 2008 to 8th August, 2008 (All 9 days and 12 times a day)

Alongwith that are few more functions they are organizing:

1. 2nd October 2008: Sri Lakshmi Narasimha and Sri Sudharshana Homam (Swathi Homam)

Interested devotees may note:

1. Call +91 44 27290805 to register their name, nakshatram (star) and gothram.
2. Subsequently they need to pay INR 1000 towards the Sahasranama Archanai either by MO or DD/Check (favoring Sri Pavanahari Homa Trust payable at Chennai)
3. The prasadam would be sent by post to devotees who are unable to attend in person.
4. For Homam, either individual or group can participate in the Homam Sankalpam.

I came to know from SriRangaSri about the Sri Hayagriva Jayanthi (Avathara Dinam) of Sri Hayagrivan is being celebrated on September 12.

Let us chant at least one sloka of Lord Hayagrivan to get His divine blessings.

Sri Garuda Dandakam is a sloka praising the greatness of Garuda, the bird-vehicle of Lord Sriman Narayana. It was composed by Sri Vedanta Desikar. It is very good to chant Sri Garuda Dandakam for those people having problems of Rahu and Ketu in their horoscopes.
